Fujifilm intros two new F-Series cameras, the F850EXR and F900EXR

Fujifilm has unveiled its new compact cameras for 2013, which include the F850EXR and F900EXR Compact Ultra Zoom. Each of the cameras brings a range of features to the table, with Fujifilm claiming that the F900EXR has the 'world's fastest autofocus' at a mere 0.05 seconds. It achieves its speed by using a Phase Detection AF system that works in conjunction with special pixels that allow it to quickly switch to Contrast Detection AF when required.

The F900EXR incorporates a 16-megapixel -inch EXR-CMOS II sensor with backside illumination to assist at larger apertures when the ambient lighting is high. A new EXR Processor II also doubles the speed of operation over the previous generation silicon, allowing a start up time of 1.1 seconds and a shot interval of 0.5 seconds. The lens is a Fujinon 20x optical zoom that also has support for digital zoom at 40x. It also includes built-in Wi-Fi, for fast wireless transfers mobile and other devices when on the go.

The F850EXR is designed with an emphasis on pocketability while also incorporating some of the same technology from the more upmarket F900EXR. It includes the same EXR Processor II, matching its speed performance. It also includes a similar Fujinon 20x optical zoom lens with digital 40x zoom. However, it continues with the slightly older generation EXR-CMOS I sensor meaning that it doesn't share the F900EXRs fast hybrid autofocus capabilities.

The F900EXR and F850EXR will be available from March.
