Apple posts Xcode IDE 4.6 update

updated 03:35 pm EST, Mon January 28, 2013

New revision adds SDK for iOS 6.1, bug fixes

In conjunction with Apple's updates of the Apple TV and iOS software, Xcode 4 has been updated to version 4.6. The new revision includes software developer kits for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and iOS 6.1, C++11 support for some new features, plus other fixes and improvements.

New to version 4.6 is more accurate code completion heuristics using an optimized default data set, new compiler warnings to help identify potential bugs, debugger ability to inspect elements within NSArray or NSDictionary objects, deeper cross-function static analysis of Objective-C and C++ code, reduced number of indexing passes, and bug fixes.

Xcode is a free tool provided by Apple that requires OS X 10.7.4 or greater. App submission to the Mac or iOS Ap stores requires membership of the appropriate developer program.
