Apple, devs offers discount on productivity apps for Mac

Unusual themed discount roundup on Mac App Store

In a rare move, Apple has started a three-week "productivity apps" sale called "Get Stuff Done" that offers discounted prices on eight "prioritizing" applications for the Mac on the Mac App Store. The second week will reveal sale prices on as-yet-unnamed organizing apps, and the final week will spotlight savings on utility apps. Sale prices currently ongoing include $3 off the normally $10 to-do app Clear; half-off pricing on Things 2, 2Do, Due, The Hit List and Taskpaper; 40 percent off BreakTime, and substantial savings on Todo.

The collection of eight applications features a fair amount of overlap, particularly in the area of the "Getting Things Done" (GTD) methodology for personal productivity, but range from simple to-do lists like Clear to work-break reminders like BreakTime. The "Prioritize" section of the sale will run until the end of the month. The sale prices are generally good only for the Mac App Store version of the programs, though individual developers may also offer the sale pricing on their websites if they choose to do so.

Most of the apps mentioned will sync with popular cloud services such as iCloud or Dropbox. Some come with iOS equivalents so that all devices can be synced, but those are generally sold separately and are not part of the sale. The organization apps offered as part of the sale will be revealed on February 1.
