Just watched this trailer - not surprisingly, all I saw was a TERRIBLE performance by a pathetic actor (if we may qualify Mr Kutcher as such, of course) - just proof that Hollywood is, among other things, a good job creator for those sharing a certain religious allegiance and little else...he looks physically like SJ - other than that, the choice couldn't have been WORSE.

As for the guy interpreting Woz, he is just a nobody - where is Mr Wyle when one needs him?

God that was horrible.

Oh God, i don't want to see this movie, i'l wait for the Sorkin version based on the bio.

I [now have] seen the trailer and didn't think it was all that terrible. Not factually accurate, of course, but gets the point across. Those who think this brief snippet is "terrible" need to go back and have another look at their beloved "Pirates of Silicon Valley." The memory cheats! (I'm not defending Kutcher here -- I'm not a fan. I'm just reserving judgement until I can see the entire film.)

Um, you do remember that Noah Wyle portrayed JOBS, not WOZ, in the movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley" right? Like I said above ...

Wyle's still around, but he's too old to play Jobs as such a young man (and doesn't bear much resemblance either). I'm not saying Kutcher's a good choice because he happens to look like Jobs, I'm just saying you don't appear to understand that this movie is set in the 70s when Jobs was in his 20s. Noah Wyle is 41 years old.

Maybe they'll cast him in the GOOD Jobs movie, the one Sony is making with Aaron Sorkin. We'll have to wait and see.

Was Peter Jackson doing the casting? The fellow who portrays Woz looks nothing like Woz but bears an incredibly eerie resemblance to Gimli of Gloin!!!

That would make even LESS sense. NONE of the people involved with this *independent* (as in NOT HOLLYWOOD) production are known to be scientologists, and there aren't really that many scientologists in the movie industry anyway (obvious a few well-known people, but apart from the half-dozen everyone can name, who else is there?).

Wozniak closed the remark by saying that "my purpose was inspired by the values of the Homebrew Computer Club along with ideas of the value of such machines and Steve J. wasn't around and didn't attend the club so he was the one learning about such social impact of the future."

According to the Isaacson bio, Jobs did attend the club meetings and Jobs was constantly peppering Woz with questions about the social implications. Not sure who to believe, Woz has admitted his memory is shaky in the past.

I didn't take it as him referring to Judaism. Leftist culture is a religion unto itself.

Maybe they were being sarcastic, who knows. It is kind of sad, though. The older I get, the more I'm beginning to worry that centrism is becoming a philosophy of the past.

Not knowing Ashton's religion (or caring much to check) I assumed it was a Scientology slam.

Woz has had his share of head bomps and injuries... didn't he lose his memory after a plane crash? Not sure how he can be sure of anything.

The scientologists I know, Tom Cruise and John Travolta, can act so I was a little confused by ricardogf's comments. Besides, as someone else said, there's every religion pretty much represented in Hollywood.

I have't seen the clip yet, but Ashton didn't seem the best candidate.

Since I really enjoyed the West Wing, especially the characters, I'll probably like Sorkin's version better.

No offence, but you are the one coming off like a racist here. The original remark was as well of course but your over-reaction to it, and the assumption you made that it was about anti-semeticism speaks volumes. Now you reply with a post that makes it obvious that you actually *know* how many people of what religion/race are working on which Hollywood picture? Why keep track of this stuff at all?

I must admit my first thought about the original post was that he was talking about scientology because Kutchner is exactly the kind of shallow egomaniac that would be attracted by such nonsense. On reflection, I think you were right about it being probably an anti-semetic remark, but your response is just as bad IMO. Everyone knows that Jewish people are a huge part of the entertainment business, whether one is stupid enough to see it as a conspiracy or whether one is a Jew oneself and just stating the obvious (good) fact that this is so.

Why don't we all just forget about who prays to what. Keeping track of it for "defensive" reasons is almost as bad as the conspiracy nuts.

IMO as techies we should really be eschewing religion altogether and working for the day when rationality is more important than dogma, and our children can be raised free of religions yoke.

As weird as it may sound, I think when you're looking at a bio-pic like this, even if Jobs was still alive, it's not a good idea to take his word about what happened either. That's why autobiographies are more entertaining than biographies, but generally far less accurate.

It takes research and incisive analysis by a disinterested third party to make a good biography. No one can really be that objective about themselves and memory and personal experience is a notoriously unreliable crutch to lean on.

They should of just made the movie in CG with voice actors.

people, just don't watch BS like this. If the origin states "this film is not us".... what is the point of watching it??... for an independent film, this is grotesque.

also, if they include the part where Jobs (name is more like Steve Robs) embezzles money from Woz, then I will watch that clip.
