Third-party resellers running out of Thunderbolt Display

Could signal refresh mirroring MacBook, iMac advances

Third-party retailers are beginning to run out of Apple's 27-inch Thunderbolt Display, notes AppleInsider. Amazon, MacMall, and J&R are all indicating that they're completely out of the monitor. Such stock-outs are typically a sign that Apple is about to update a product, which may be a necessity in the case of the Thunderbolt Display.

The monitor still ships with a MagSafe-to-MagSafe 2 converter, something needed to connect it to 2012 MacBooks. It also continues to use three USB 2.0 ports at a time when other Macs have upgraded to USB 3.0, and the monitor will likely be re-engineered to take advantage of better screen technology in the recently updated (and similarly designed) iMac. The computer uses a thinner panel, and has roughly 75 percent less screen glare.

It was discontinued two weeks ago so there is no guessing. The A changed into a B and there will probably be a Magsafe 2 connector on next shipment.
