Time Warner agreement brings Cartoon Network to Netflix

updated 02:58 pm EST, Mon January 14, 2013

Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, TNT programming hit Netflix

Netflix today announced a new agreement between it and content provider Time Warner that will see programming from Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and TNT appearing on the streaming service. The deal represents the third agreement between the popular video streaming service and Time Warner, bringing even more Time Warner content to Netflix's service even as Time Warner retains sole control over valuable properties such as HBO's programming. Observers value the deal in the hundreds of millions of dollars, depending on the duration of Netflix's streaming rights.

Netflix gains the right to stream full seasons of Warner Bros. Television and Turner Broadcasting System-owned content, such as Cartoon Network's "Adventure Time," Adult Swim's "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," and Sony Pictures Television's "The Boondocks." Netflix also gets TNT's "Dallas," which will be available exclusively on Netflix beginning in January of 2014.

The deal is yet another major content acquisition for Netflix, which recently beat out Starz for the right to carry Disney's animated and live-action films beginning in 2016. Another recent deal with Warner gave Netflix the right to stream some Warner content to its customers in Canada.
