Job switch set to take place February 28th

Apple has hired Xerox executive vice president and CFO Luca Maestri as its new corporate controller, a Xerox press release reveals. Maestri will officially leave Xerox on February 28th, after helping to "manage the financial leadership transition" at the company. The executive is relatively new to Xerox; he was hired in February 2011, having formerly been the CFO of Nokia Siemens Networks. The bulk of Maestri's career took place at General Motors, where he held different financial jobs for more than 20 years.

At Apple Maestri will be subordinate to CFO Peter Oppenheimer, who himself served as corporate controller at one point. In his new job Maestri will be responsible for setting financial policies, recording income and expenses, and advising on investment maneuvers.

Apple has undergone a substantial executive shakeup in the past two years, starting when Tim Cook replaced Steve Jobs as CEO. Ron Johnson, for instance, left his position as head of retail, and was eventually replaced by John Browett. Browett was fired late last year however, following worker mismanagement issues. At least two people, including iOS head Scott Forstall, were kicked out over the public backlash against iOS 6 Maps. Bob Mansfield was at one point set to retire, but was lured back into a post as senior VP of technologies.
