Magnetic keyboard kit option available for tablets

Gigabyte has revealed a pair of tablets at CES, both running Windows 8 instead of Windows RT. The S1185 is an 11.6-inch slate with a Full HD resolution IPS display, while the 10.1-inch S1082 tablet is aimed more at the business market rather than consumers, with its focus on energy efficiency and higher-capacities of storage.

The S1185 is powered by a third-generation Intel Core processor, can take a maximum of 8GB of RAM, integrated Intel HD graphics and has storage options ranging from 64GB to 256GB on SSD. A pair of USB ports, VGA, HDMI, MicroSD card reader and a SIM card slot are also included, along with a magnetically attachable keyboard kit. Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, a rear 5-megapixel camera and front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, and a 4000mAh battery round off the specifications.

The smaller S1082 uses a lower-powered Intel Celeron Dual-Core 847 processor running at 1.1GHz, supported by up to 8GB of RAM, Intel HD graphics, and hard drive options up to 256GB on SSD and 500GB on HDD. The onboard pair of USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, Ethernet, SIM slot and SD card reader are supplimented by an extra docking station, providing a DVD drive, three more USB ports, HDMI, Ethernet, a speaker system and an extended battery connection port. A keyboard kit is also available, but the S1082 does lose the rear camera that the S1185 has.

Price and expected release dates for the tablets were unavailable at the time of writing.
