Amazon deal adds A+E Networks content to Prime Instant Video

updated 11:11 am EST, Fri January 4, 2013

Storage Wars, Pawn Stars added to Prime streaming roster

Amazon has signed an agreement with A+E Networks to bring prior seasons of its shows to Prime Instant Video. The content licensing deal adds shows from A&E, bio, History, and Lifetime channels to the streaming service, which now raises the total number of movies and TV episodes in the Prime Instant Video catalog to over 33,000 items.

An extension to the Amazon Instant Video store, Prime Instant Video allows Amazon Prime subscribers to view selected streaming content at no extra charge to the Kindle Fire HD, Roku, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and iOS devices. Specific shows that will be added to the Prime Instant Video roster were not revealed in the announcement, but examples given included Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, and Dance Moms.

Amazon has made a number of deals to fill out its Prime Instant Video roster over the last year. Multi-year deals with NBCUniversal, MGM, and Epix have all added more shows and movies to the service, which continues to be a US-only offer despite operating similar streaming services in other markets.
