Samsung rolls out first touch optimized monitor for Windows 8

Samsung has taken the covers off a pair of premium monitors optimized for Windows 8. The new Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor incorporates a capacitive multi-touch layer to take full advantage of the touch-based Windows 8 interface. Joining it is the Series 7 SC750, which drops the touch layer, but retains its stablemate's slim design and premium LCD panel.

The Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor is Samsung's first multi-touch display optimized for Windows 8. Supporting up to 10 points of simultaneous multi-touch, users can drag, rotate or select objects on the monitor using their fingers. The flexible stand of the SC770 adjusts to user preferences, offering a 60-degree tilt. Its bezel is thin, while Samsung says it also offers wide viewing angles.

The Series 7 SC750 monitor sports a similarly slim design that is capable of a 90-degree pivot allowing it to offer a portait mode as well as the traditional landscape mode. Samsung says it displays ultra-sharp images, thanks to its 5,000:1 contrast ratio, which it claims is five times that of a standard monitor.

The Series 7 SC750 monitor and the Series 7 SC770 Touch Monitor will be available worldwide in the first quarter of 2013.
