Galaxy Note II tops one million sales in South Korea

updated 01:39 pm EST, Mon December 31, 2012

Note successor on track for 10 million in five months

Samsung's Galaxy Note II continues to see strong sales in the manufacturer's native country, as well as around the world. The South Korean conglomerate announced today that its stylus-enabled handset has passed the one million unit mark in South Korea and continues to outpace its predecessor in terms of consumer adoption. The original Galaxy Note was released to respectable sales, moving 10 million units in the 10 months after its launch, but its successor is on pace to hit that mark in under half the time.

The original Galaxy Note took about five months to hit the two million sales mark in South Korea. Samsung predicted brisk sales for the Note II just prior to its release, and the fact that the device has hit the million unit mark in about three months in South Korea would seem to validate Samsung's optimism.

Globally, Samsung says the Note II sold three million units in 30 days, hitting that mark about three times faster than its predecessor.
