updated 01:34 pm EST, Fri December 28, 2012

Smartphone rumored to merge Galaxy S, Galaxy Note lines

Samsung will be revealing the Galaxy S IV Android smartphone in April, according to rumors. The South Korean company is also said to be merging its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series in the successor to the Galaxy S III, and will allegedly be the first in the Galaxy S series to launch with the S Pen stylus.

The rumor, appearing on Enuri, also reports that the handset will have a 5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, and will have a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. A quad-core Exynos 5440 processor using 28nm high-K metal gates will power the mobile phone, which will also have a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto focus.

It has already been rumored that the Galaxy S IV would be revealed in March, after Mobile World Congress takes place. An April handset launch seems more likely, given that it was launched at a London event near to the start of May this year, and suggests a possible yearly product cycle for the handset, though Samsung has already denied previous Galaxy S IV launch rumors.
