Samsung plans Silicon Valley expansion

Samsung will be expanding its research and development operations in San Jose and building innovation centers in Silicon Valley. The South Korean conglomerate announced its plans today, saying that the new San Jose facility will be designed by global architecture firm NBBJ. Samsung will also be relocating its R&D Center from its current North San Jose location to a new campus consisting of two new six-story class-A office buildings. In all, the campus is expected to cover about 385,000 square feet with two five-to-six-story parking structures.

As well as the new San Jose facilities, Samsung will be expanding its Open Innovation efforts, adding space to nurture the development of new technologies. Reports indicate that the company will also be setting up corresponding innovation-centered operations at its South Korean headquarters.
