Quad-core processor to have fifth Battery Saver Core

Details of Nvidia's next mobile chipset have surfaced, in the form of a presentation slide. The image claims that Tegra 4, codenamed "Wayne" in the slide, will have 72 cores for graphical content, giving the chipset six times the power of Tegra 3 and twenty times that of the chipset generation before that, Tegra 2.

The 28nm processor, listed as a 4-Plus-1 Quad Core Eagle, uses a fifth Battery Saver Core that is designed to lower power consumption, according to Chip Hell. It will also be capable of displaying images at a resolution of 2560x1600, 1080p output at 120Hz, as well as 4K and 2K content. Dual display capabilities, dual-channel DDR3L memory, and support for USB 3.0 are also detailed, along with the claim that it is being "designed for super phones" and tablets.

Though not officially announced, it is likely that the codename Wayne chipset will be demonstrated in some form or another at either CES or Mobile World Congress, in early 2013.
