Which version of OS X is best for me?

Yesterday in the MacNN forums, Mac Enthusiast "Ted L. Nancy" explained that he just got an early 2008 Mac Pro and he's wondering "which version of Mac OS X is best for me?" Excitement continues to grow as forum-goers continue to speculate about the future of the Mac Pro in the thread titled "something for us in 2013". An unusual problem with one Fresh Faced Recruit's iPhone, where it would add surnames to contacts in the address book, lead them to this thread which asked about the same thing but never found a solution. In the thread titled "Using Mac as NAS - Network Attached Storage" forum-goers discuss how to go about setting this up.
