OPPO unwraps Find 5 with 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core

Chinese maker OPPO takes the wraps off its Find 5, set for US in Q1

OPPO has taken the covers off the latest Android superphone at its first official US launch event, reports TNW. The new Find 5, which will go on sale in the US for $499 off-contract early next year, uses the same display as the Droid DNA, which measures 5-inches diagonally, a 1080p resolution with a pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. Similarly, it also packs the same Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz matched with 2GB of RAM.

The OPPO Find 5 will ship with 16GB of storage and Android 4.1.2 'Jelly Bean.' Connectivity also extends to Wi-Fi 802.11n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, NFC and Bluetooth. It also packs in a 13-megapixel camera on the rear (which can shoot video at up to 120fps), while sensors include an accelerometer, gyro, digital compass, IR proximity sensor, magnetic sensor, and gravity sensor. Despite also incorporating a large 2,500mAh battery, the device measures just 8.8mm thick.

Although the OPPO Find will retail at an off-contract price of around $100 less than the equivalent HTC handset, it sacrifices 4G LTE connectivity for 3G. It will be compatible with the T-Mobile, AT&T and Simple Mobile 3G networks and other networks operating on UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA/HSPA+/HSPA+42 (850, 1700, 1900, 2100MHz), GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz).
