Apple accidentally links apps categories on Apple TV

updated 10:56 am EST, Mon December 10, 2012

May have been caused by thin line between iOS stores

Apple has been accidentally linking to app categories as a part of its holiday content on the Apple TV, users note. In addition to regular movie and music choices, Apple TV users may see links to app-only promotions like Snow Sports, Apps for Shopping, Holiday Cooking Apps, and Deep Games for Holiday Downtime. In most cases selecting one of the categories leads to a blank page, but some links are completely non-functional.

The glitch is likely a result of the blur between the stores for iOS devices. Apple appears to be able to flag content to appear based on the device, and may have simply turned the new app content on for the Apple TV as well as iPhones and iPads. Rumors have long hinted that Apple would like to bring apps to TVs, but there haven't been any indications of this happening in the near future.
