Kindle hardware expected for local sales in near future

Amazon has set-up a dedicated e-book store in Canada, two and a half years after the company's first international e-book shop was opened in the UK. The addition of the Kindle Books store to the localized version of the website brings with it titles in the local currency, as well as recommendations for local writers.

Currently, those in Canada wishing to buy Kindle hardware in any form are forced to use the US store, regardless of whether it is for the ebook reader or the Kindle Fire tablets, according to Engadget. The store's opening paves the way for to start selling hardware directly to Canadian customers, though it may still be some time before that takes place.

Amazon also recently opened the Kindle e-book store in Brazil, and is expected to launch local sales of its hardware in the new year.
