Apple now shipping first 27-inch iMac orders

updated 02:41 pm EST, Mon December 10, 2012

Earliest deliveries set for December 18

Apple is starting to ship the first online orders of the updated 27-inch iMac, notes AppleInsider. Buyers say their systems are listed as shipping out of Shanghai, and scheduled to arrive on December 18. The customers add, moreover, that this is earlier than Apple was suggesting at the time the orders were initially paid for.

Orders for the 27-inch iMac opened up at Apple's online store on November 30. Shipping delays quickly escalated however, and now any new orders are only listed as shipping sometime in January. Stock of 21.5-inch models has remained relatively consistent, suggesting that Apple is currently able to manufacture very few 27-inch units.
