Top Google lawyer to replace current M&A head

Google is preparing to replace the head of its mergers and acquisitions group, David Lawee, with top internal lawyer Don Harrison. This according to sources familiar with the search giant's plans, who spoke anonymously to Reuters, revealing the organizational shift. Google has not commented on the matter, but Lawee will reportedly be moved to another new group within the search giant.

According to the source, Lawee will take over a late-stage investment group, which Google is planning to create in the coming weeks. His replacement in Google's corporate development group has been with Google for more than five years and has completed more than 70 deals at the company. Harrison is also an adviser to Google Ventures.

The late-stage investment group where Lawee is expected to land is still in the development stages. It may operate separately from Google Ventures, but the search giant is still in the process of finalizing its scope and mandate.
