Canada receives French-language video channel on console

Microsoft has added more apps to the Xbox 360 game console's already sizeable catalog, with an update that covers North America and parts of Europe. The key app additions this time lie in the US, where gamers will be able to watch original content from Blip.TV, as well as access the wide catalog available to Rhapsody users.

Canadian users will see the launch of the IGN channel, offering video content including on-demand shows and live-streams, and French-speaking users can also view over 2,000 hours of dramas, soaps, and documentaries through the Tou.TV app. The Netherlands can watch a number of RTL programs through RTL XL, and Germany will receive their own version of the LoveFilm app, already being used in the UK. The British version of LoveFilm will also receive an update, according to Major Nelson.

The Xbox 360 has seen a number of apps being added and updated in the last few months. ESPN appeared on the console two weeks ago, though applications for both Facebook and Twitter have been retired in order to "streamline" app functionality on the console, at the same time as Internet Explorer 9 became available to use.
