Apple adds 'app-enabled' store area; Google iPad upgrade

Google web search shows carousel of local businesses

Apple has added an "App-Enabled Accessories" category to its online store. The page collects a variety of electronics that are either dependent on or enhanced by iOS apps. The list includes everything from musical instruments to toys, gaming controllers, baby monitors, lightbulbs and thermostats.

Google, meanwhile, has made a small change to the way it handles web searches on the iPad. When a person is searching for local businesses, the iPad version of the site can now display a swipable carousel of local businesses, showing addresses and the number of reviews for each location. Tapping an item brings up an information card. The option only appears to be working in some regions, though, which may imply a gradual rollout.
