Update brings Retina readiness, new Go Menu

Bare Bones Software announced today the release and availability of BBEdit 10.5, the newest version of its HTML and text editor. The update brings compatibility with the Retina displays seen on Apple's newest notebooks, as well as changes to the program's user interface. BBEdit is available as a free update for all BBEdit 10 customers.

Version 10.5 adds a new Go menu, which streamlines the process of navigating within documents. It also adds a Functions palette and a Jump Points palette, as well as the ability to navigate to any named symbols in a file. The Jump Points palette presents a history of movement within a document, allowing a user to quickly revisit points of prior editing.

Users also have the ability to configure projects as websites through a new menu option in the action bar. The update brings with it a new Deploy Site command, allowing users to upload an entire site to an FTP or SFTP server, as well.

Version 10.5 brings new command keystroke equivalents, as well as keyboard navigation adjustments to make the workflow easier for users coming from other platforms. The software is available for free for users of BBEdit 10, and owners of prior BBEdit versions can update for $40 at Bare Bones' site.
