Firmware nears final release
Apple is seeding a third beta of iOS 6.1 to developers. The firmware should be available through the iOS Dev Center, as well as in the form of an over-the-air update. Apple is promising that the code "contains bug fixes and improvements," but as usual has not gone into depth on any feature changes.
iOS 6.1 may be quickly closing in on a public release. Typically, Apple seeds just a handful of betas before an iOS update is finished. The company also likely wants the update done before Christmas, not only to clear its plate, but to ensure that as many problems as possible are fixed for people getting an iOS device as a gift.
