Acer brings new Chromebooks to TigerDirect, NewEgg

updated 05:14 pm EST, Fri November 30, 2012

TigerDirect, NewEgg, Staples.com get Acer Chromebooks

Acer made a move today to expand the availability of its recently announced Chromebook, bringing the $199 notebook to three new online outlets. Starting today, TigerDirect, NewEgg, and Staples.com will carry Acer's C7 Chromebook, joining Google Play, BestBuy.com, and Best Buy stores. The Chrome OS-powered notebook will still sell for $199, though some outlets are packaging it with other accessories.

The C7 weighs 3.05 pounds and measures about an inch thick. It has a 1.1GHz Intel Celeron 847 processor, as well as 2GB of DDR memory and a 320GB HDD for storage. It also features an HDMI port, SD card reader, and three USB 2.0 ports.

Chromebook customers will get access to 100GB of free Google Drive storage with their purchase. The C7 also comes with 12 free Gogo in-air Internet passes, so that frequent travelers will have access to the Internet on some domestic US flights.
