Cisco to buy Cariden Technologies for $141

Cisco to buy network traffic-management software company

Cisco announced today that it would be purchasing Cariden Technologies, a privately-held traffic management software maker. The networking giant will pay about $141 million in total for Cariden, which supplies network planning and design solutions for telecoms. The move is Cisco's third major acquisition in a month.

In addition to Cariden, Cisco earlier this month acquired cloud startup Meraki for $1.2 billion in cash. That deal saw Cisco adding to its networking infrastructure capabilities and gaining an edge in on-site Wi-Fi networking, security, and cloud-based management software.

Earlier in the year, Cisco bought cloud and virtual machine security company Virtuata. That deal was in keeping with Cisco's continuing focus on solidifying its position as a leader in networking, offering cloud services, virtualization, data center operations, and enterprise services.
