Platform-agnostic PLYR2 boasts high audio performance

Skullcandy has launched its first wireless gaming headset, one that the headphone manufacturer announced at the release of the SLYR. The PLYR2 is a platform-agnostic pair of headphones with microphone that will work with the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Mac, PC, and mobile gaming platforms, and claims to offer a "high quality audio performance" to match its styling.

Using wireless transmitters and receivers in the 2.4GHz band, the PLYR2 uses Skullcandy's proprietary Supreme Sound technology for high and low sounds, and a choice of three distinct EQ3 sound modes: Bass Mode, Supreme Mode, and Precision Mode. The GMX stereo transmitter can have the balance between transmission of game and voice sounds adjusted by the user, while the adjustable boom mic can be muted by flipping the boom up.

The PLYR2 is on sale for $130, and is available in black, white, and teal. The PLYR1 headset, matching the features of the PLYR2 with the addition of Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound, will be made available in early 2013.
