Photoshop Touch gets pressure, expanded tablet support,

updated 03:30 pm EST, Wed November 28, 2012

App optimized for 7- to 9-inch tablets

Adobe has released Photoshop Touch 1.4, an update to its illustration and photo-editing app for tablets. The most important upgrade may be support for three pressure-sensitive styli in the iPad app: the Pogo Connect, the Jot Touch, and the JaJa Stylus. Although the Android version of the app doesn't support the styli, Adobe says it has improved its overall brushing engine to allow smoother strokes.

The app has also been optimized to work on smaller tablets, namely the iPad mini, Nexus 7, and the 7- and 8.9-inch models of the Kindle Fire. Adobe promises that the app should work with any Android tablet running Android 3.1 or later, and using at least a 7-inch screen with a 1024x600 resolution.

Miscellaneous changes include the addition of Lens Flare and Stamp Pattern effects, and a better grid layout for projects, images, and tutorials. New support has been added for sharing to Twitter, Facebook, and registered apps, and dragging down on Color now provides access to the last five colors used.

Each version of Photoshop Touch costs $10. The Android edition is also available through the Amazon Appstore.
