Samsung Galaxy Note II sales pass five million

After announcing that it had passed the three million units sold mark in early November, Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Note II has passed 5 million units in sales. The increasing availability of the device around the globe as more carriers pick it up is likely the reason for the acceleration of sales. The original Galaxy Note 'phablet' passed 10 million sales before the new model replaced it in early October.

The Galaxy Note II is based on Samsung's quad-core Exynos 4 Cortex-A9 architecture, is clocked at 1.6GHz and is paired with 2GB of RAM. It centers on a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1280x720 resolution, slightly larger than the original Note, although it retains a similar overall footprint. It has found popularity with users looking to combine a smartphone that can make calls with a larger, tablet-like experience.

The Galaxy Note II features Samsung's Premium Suite of applications including multi-window and multi-tasking capabilities. will also be able to open, move around and resize up to 16 applications at once. Apps can also be viewed in a dual-view mode, similar to the Snap function in Windows, allowing users to work in two apps simultaneously, sharing content between them.

Air View allows users to quickly preview information from emails, to calendar events and photos in albums without opening the files completely, which is remiscient of Quick Look in Mac OS X. Additional features include Easy Clip that works with S Pen to take screen grabs with quick access to the most likely apps that the screen capture will be used.
