Xbox Live ESPN app updated, includes all live programming

updated 10:05 pm EST, Mon November 19, 2012

Remainder of broadcast channels added, enhancements made

Today, ESPN on Xbox updated its app with a significant update. The program now includes all of ESPN's live network programming through WatchESPN including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, Buzzer Beater and Goal Line. Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers can watch the sports' network entire live lineup, including SportsCenter, SportsNation and the Mike and Mike Show, as well as ESPN's coverage of the NFL, including Monday Night Football, MLB and the NBA.

The Xbox Live app allows users to choose favorite sports and teams and tag them as "My Sports," so the content can be directly accessed. ESPN on Xbox will automatically provide users with a personalized daily feed of live events, news and highlights based on "My Sports." Also enhanced for this update, ESPN on Xbox has an upgraded split screen, allowing users to watch two events at once. Both screens can be controlled independently, allowing for pausing and rewinding key events of either event.

WatchESPN is free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers, with a subscription to a WatchESPN-affiliated provider, such as Verizon FIOS, or Time Warner Cable. Normal sporting event blackout restrictions as applied by the governing bodies of the sport and broadcast networks still apply, making the update still unsuitable for "cord cutters."
