Elgato and Dyle ship iOS receiver for ASTC-mobile video

updated 07:38 pm EST, Mon November 19, 2012

Device provides live broadcast television to select markets

TV and video solutions vendor Elgato and live broadcast service provider Dyle today announced the immediate availability of the EyeTV Mobile accessory, a Dyle mobile TV-compatible TV tuner for iOS devices that will turn those with a 30-pin dock connector devices into portable televisions capable of receiving ASTC-mobile signals.

The tuner receives mobile TV signals from a miniature antenna for use on-the-go, or a rod antenna, which provides broader range at home or in the office. Consumers can access live TV with the free EyeTV Mobile app, which provides a full range of TV viewing features, including pause-and-resume capabilities and access to detailed program guide information.

Working with the mobile app, the tuner also allows viewers to enjoy a full range of TV viewing features on their iPad, iPod Touch or iPhones, displaying live broadcast TV from participating Dyle stations. In addition to live broadcast TV from Dyle partner stations, users can access any other stations that may be broadcasting to mobile in a specific market. Dyle TV is available from more than 90 stations in 35 markets, reaching approximately 55 percent of the US population.

The EyeTV Mobile accessory is priced at $100 and is available from Elgato, and select retail locations. The EyeTV Mobile app, compatible with the Dyle service, is available at no charge in the App Store. Dyle mobile TV services are available immediately without a subscription fee at present.

    This does not turn your ipad into an ATSC TV as the article implies. It is only for accessing the Dyle service.

    ASTC-mobile != ASTC. Article does say ASTC-mobile.

    This has been out for about six months. Very few stations. Lehigh Valley PA has none. Boulder, CO has none, Philadelphia has three stations, one religious, same for New York.
    The international version has DVB-T which is the standard for tv reception in Europe, with thousands of stations, not HD, but not compatible with the ATSC system in the USA.
    The normal EyeTV app picks up any live or recorded TV from your home TV that has an EyeTV tuner.
