Apple returns 'start page' to Safari in time for holidays

updated 02:24 am EST, Fri November 16, 2012

Previously dumped, URL was redirected to apple.com last summer

Long a default choice in Safari, the Apple "start page" was a one-page summary of much of the new activity on Apple.com and was often left by most consumers as their home page until they desired to find out how to change it. Beginning early last summer, Apple dropped the start page and redirected the requests to the main page of its online presence. Earlier this week, the company reversed course and reactivated the start page, keeping the same design as it had when it was shut down. The page currently features links to Apple's Holiday Gift Guide, recent commercials, news stories involving Apple and more.

The page also features links to movie trailers, each of the main product groups, Find My iDevice and a section relating what's going on at the iTunes store (this week featuring the debut of the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour film and related products). Across the top, a "menu bar" has links to all the regular Apple.com departments, from the online store to support. It can be made the default start page in any browser by navigating to the site and then choosing to make that page the default.

Actually I never missed it, having the apple.com as my home page which would have the
latest products their selling. With movies of all other stuff much better laid out.

If you the just click on store you get all their goodies ofcourse you miss out on the Itunes stuff hidden at bottom of page.

Whoever keeps crApple homepage or start page is clearly ok with being brainwashed in the world around them.
