OWC launches 16GB RAM kits for Mac mini, MBP, iMac

Allows pushing iMac up to 32GB
Third-party vendor OWC has launched new 16GB RAM upgrade kits for the Mac mini, iMac, and non-Retina MacBook Pro. A standard 8GBx2 kit costs $99, and in the case of 2010 and 2011 iMacs, can be used to add on to existing memory. The 2009 iMac has a special 4GBx4 option that costs $98 and can maximize the computer's memory capacity.
As an extra incentive, OWC is offering a copy of Windows virtualization environment Parallels Desktop 8 with any of the kits at a price of $39, $40 less than the normal retail cost. The RAM kits themselves are said to be about 66 percent cheaper than Apple's own factory upgrades.
The Retina MacBook Pros offered by Apple use a different manufacturing technique which requires the RAM to be soldered to the motherboard, and thus cannot presently be upgraded except at the time of ordering. The RAM kits OWC is offering are for the non-Retina 2012 and earlier MacBook Pro models only.
