The Wi-Fi versions of Amazon's Kindle Fire HD 8.9 tablet are now shipping, ahead of schedule and to those who preordered the tablet. Amazon's product page states the 8.9-inch tablet is expected to ship on December 3 to those who order it presently. The LTE version of the tablet is due to arrive next week.

The 16GB, Wi-Fi version costs $299, though it is ad-supported. Opting out of the Special Offers will add another $15 to the purchase price. The 32GB version costs $369 with Special Offers, and $384 without.

The Wi-Fi tablet will also come to Best Buy stores on Friday, November 16. Staples and Radio Shack are due to get it in the coming weeks.

The 4G tablet gets 32GB or 64GB of storage space, with prices starting at $499 with the Special Offers discount and going up to $614 for the 64GB model without Special Offers. Amazon offers a $50 AT&T 4G data package for the first year of ownership of the tablet. It represents good value and includes 12 monthly, 250MB 'sessions' at 4G speeds, a $10 Amazon Appstore for Android credit and 20GB of Amazon CloudDrive storage. It is said to start shipping on November 20.

The tablet's 1920x1200 touchscreen has a 254ppi density. It uses a custom Android operating system and a 1.5GHz TI OMAP4470 processor.
