Logitech Alert security camera management arrives on OS X

Native app connects up to six Alert security cameras

Logitech has brought its Alert Commander software to OS X, enabling Mac users to manage the company's Alert security cameras via a native application. The OS X utility replicates its Windows counterpart, providing full controls and monitoring for up to six security cameras.

Users can configure motion zones for each camera, along with desktop notifications and motion alerts sent to e-mail addresses or mobile phones. The video feeds can also be digitally panned, tilted or zoomed, by focusing on specific sections of each camera's HD output.

Logitech offers two Alert cameras, including an indoor model and an outdoor variant, each with night-vision capabilities and a microSD slot for local storage. The cameras connect wirelessly to a home Wi-Fi network, enabling the feeds to be remotely viewed through a web browser or apps for mobile phones.

Logitech Commander for OS X is now available as a free download directly from the Mac App Store. The Indoor Master System with one camera can be purchased for $300, while the outdoor Master System costs $350.

About time! Logictech has been very slow to support Apple products with their security products. I ended up with DropCam and am very pleased.
