Program requested serial number on every launch
Apple has released an update to its pro photography program, Aperture, bringing it to version 3.4.3. The update exists to fix a single, specific problem: for some users, the program would prompt for a serial number on every launch. The update is available through Software Update for version 3.4.x running on OS X 10.7.5 and higher, or 10.8.2 and higher. The correction comes on the heels of version 3.4.2, released at the beginning of the month, which brought a number of new features to Aperture.
The previous version added support for shared Photo Streams and multiple email address recipients. It added a progress bar when deleting large numbers of photos using the "Empty Aperture trash" command, and fixed an issue that prevented Microsoft Outlook from being used to email photos from within Aperture. and also corrected numerous bugs, fix the problem using the zoom navigator on a second display, and addressed an issue that could cause web journals to export incorrectly.
The new update is 550.73 MB in size, effectively replacing the entire application package, and available now. Photo libraries will not be affected by the update.

Ha! I recently bought a new Mac Pro and restored Aperture (and everything else) from Time Capsule. Since then Aperture wants not only my upgrade serial number but also my original one every time I launch Aperture. So I was eager for this upgrade. However, it did not correct the problem. Aperture still requires both (very long) serial numbers on every launch. : (
