Android 4.1-powered, 4G-enabled camera lands Friday

Samsung's Android-powered, 4G-enabled Galaxy Note Camera will debut on AT&T's network at the end of this week, AT&T announced today. The carrier will be selling the Galaxy Camera for $500, and AT&T customers will have access to up to $100 off the purchase of a second Galaxy handset or other Samsung connected device for a limited time when purchasing the Galaxy Camera. That offer will require the activation of a two-year contract with a qualifying voice and data plan.

The Galaxy Camera features a 4.8-inch 1280x720 touchscreen and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It has a 21x optical zoom lens and a 16MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor for image capture. It also features a pop-up LED flash.

Inside, the Galaxy Camera has a quad-core 1.4GHz processor. It is capable of running apps from Google's Play Store, and AT&T announced that it will be able to access the carrier's cloud-based Locker storage service.

Customers purchasing the Galaxy Camera will be able to select from four of AT&T's Mobile Share plans, including Mobile Share, DataConnect 250MB, Data Connect 3GB, and DataConnect 5GB.
