AT&T to offer Galaxy Express, Liberate hotspot on Nov. 16

updated 01:09 pm EST, Thu November 8, 2012

The phone will cost $100, the hotspot $50, either with a two-year contract

AT&T is not done making new product announcements this week, now revealing the ship date and pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Express that was introduced at the end of September. The MiFi Liberate hotspot announced at about the same time will also come to the carrier, with both arriving on November 16. Either is affordably priced though it requires a two-year commitment to get AT&T's subsidized pricing.

The midrange Galaxy Express will cost $100 on a qualifying two-year voice and data plan. The phone sports a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen and a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, along with a five-megapixel rear camera. An AT&T-exclusive, it connects to the carrier's 4G LTE networks and runs on Android 4.0.

All in all, it's a viable and less costly alternative to Samsung's own Galaxy-branded flagship, the S III.

The HSPA- and LTE-network compatible Novatel MiFi Libreate hotspot features a 2.8-inch color touchscreen and will cost $50 on a two-year data plan. It can share its data connection with up to 10 devices, while the exclusive screen displays key info such as data usage, network and device settings, battery status, and more. Its battery is rated at an impressive 11 hours. It also sports a microSD memory card slot. It promises to support networks in over 200 countries.
