Vizio prepares 40-inch 2.0, 2.1 soundbars for holiday sales

updated 12:02 pm EST, Wed November 7, 2012

Soundbars include SRS-powered audio processing

Vizio has lined up four new soundbars in time for the holiday season. Both the E-Series and the M-Series soundbars are designed to work with the HDTVs revealed last month, also with the E- and M-Series monicker, with the only difference between the two being the addition of a small display and extra controls on the top of the unit.

The main soundbar itself is capable of blaring out 95 decibels of sound with less than 1-percent total harmonic distortion. Measuring 40-inches in length, the soundbars have SRS TruSurround HD and SRS TruVolume technology that emulates the sound offered by rear surround sound speakers. The 2.1 versions of both varieties add in a wireless subwoofer, which boosts the volume up to a maximum of 101 decibels.

The E-Series soundbars cost $100 and $200 for the 2.0 and 2.1 with wireless subwoofer options respectively. The M-Series with the extra display and controls cost $120 for the 2.0, $230 for the 2.1 version.
