P770 battery would be among largest in smartphones

Lenovo appears to be targeting battery performance as a main selling feature for its forthcoming P770 smartphone, packing a battery into the handset that may top every other competitor on the market. Images emerged online today showing the P770 with a 3500mAh battery, well beyond that seen in most comparable smartphones. The P770 would be the first smartphone to debut with a battery of this size, possibly marking the advent of a race to provide the most battery life on this type of device.

The images show off the front of the P770, which is the standard touchscreen affair. The 3500mAh/13.3Wh battery, is shown off in another picture, and observers believe that could amount to two days' usage on a single charge. The P770's battery outstrips those seen on the sizable Galaxy Note II from Samsung, as well as the Razr Maxx HD from Motorola.

According to Gizchina, which first leaked the images, the P770 is said to feature a 4.5-inch 960x540 display and a dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. It also is said to pack 1GB of RAM and an 8MP rear-facing camera. The device is expected to debut running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
