Micro Four Thirds format video camera outputs 10-bit video

Panasonic has lined up a new professional HD camcorder for release in Japan. The AG-AF105A is an upgrade to the AF105, originally released in Japan in 2010, and can use Micro Four Thirds-compatible DSLR lenses as well as normally used Cinema lenses, thanks to its Micro Four Thirds mount.

Spotted by AV Watch, the AF105A can record full HD progressive images at 1080/60 and 1080/50p modes, and can now output 10-bit 4:2:2 HD video to an external recorder via the SDI port. A new PS recording mode adds a 25Mbps data rate, as well as support for uncompressed 16-bit LPCM 2-channel audio recording.

While a release date for Japan has been set for November 15th, neither a US release nor its price have been mentioned. It has been suggested that it will cost around 400,000 yen ($5000).
