New update enhances iPhoto, Aperture sync, faster transfer

As part of the Windows 8 rollout, Microsoft has updated the syncing application for OS X. Newly dubbed just "Windows Phone," the new application's main feature is full compatibility with Redmond's latest mobile operating system revision.

New features in the application include drag-and-drop file transfer between the phone and the desktop in either direction., iPhoto 9.3.2 and Aperture 3.3.2 support, improved Ringtone file handling, and enhancements for Retina display-equipped MacBook Pros. Synchronization of non-DRM media from an existing iTunes library is reportedly faster as a result of the upgrade. The application is available for free at the Mac App Store.
