Archos intros 80 Cobalt, but doesn't yet reveal pricing or ship dates
Archos on Wednesday revealed details on the 8-inch 80 Cobalt, the third of its Elements series tablets that also includes the 9.7-inch Carbon. The Android 4.0-powered device uses a 1.6GHz, quad-core CPU paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. The capacitive touchscreen has 1,024x768 resolution, or exactly on par with Apple's new iPad mini.
The tablet, unveiled on Facebook, has a microSDHC memory card slot for expanding storage by up to 64GB. There is a rear 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front shooter. A USB 2.0 port is built-in, as is a speaker. The tablet is said to be capable for playing back 1080p video content.
Finally, the tablet is just 12mm (0.48 inches) thick and weighs 470 grams.
While pricing and ship dates aren't revealed, the 97 Carbon's $250 price tag, the 80 Cobalt is likely to cost somewhere under $200.
