Apple stores shutter before the 'Frankenstorm,' may be closed for days

Stores up and down the east coast closed on Sunday before Hurricane Sandy came ashore, with no intentions on opening until Wednesday morning. MacNN spoke with a retail store employee who was told that the free-standing store in the Virginia suburbs of Washington D.C. would be closed through Tuesday, and possibly later, depending on damage to the store and surrounding environs. In New York City, the emblematic Fifth Avenue store's main entrance was sandbagged, and the computers and other point-of-sale displays covered in plastic, presumably to prevent them from leaks from above.
