Nexus 4 quick start guide confirms wireless charging

updated 06:32 pm EDT, Sun October 28, 2012

Nexus 4 to come in 8GB and 16GB models

An apparent quick start guide for the forthcoming Nexus 4 smartphone from LG has leaked to the Internet, revealing new details on the Nexus 4's storage, as well as a wireless charging feature. The charging feature -- previously seen in Palm's Touchstone-compatible handsets and the forthcoming Windows 8 Lumia devices from Nokia -- was not apparent in any previous information leaks on the new Google-LG smartphone.

The wireless charging feature is revealed in the quick start guide's overview of the Nexus 4's features. Along with diagramming the smartphone's control buttons, camera, inputs, and outputs, the guide also points out an induction coil. It also makes mention of wireless charging in the section on charging the battery. The manual also confirms that the battery in the Nexus 4 will not be removable.

The wireless charger for the device will come with its own manual, according to the guide, and the Nexus 4 and its travel adapter may not work with all wireless chargers. The Nexus 4 will apparently come in an 8GB and a 16GB model. The quick start guide gives no indication of a microSD card slot, meaning that Nexus 4 owners will have to content themselves with the device's internal storage or turn to a cloud solution like Google's Drive service or a third-party option.
