Cook details iOS sales, 200M iOS 6 devices

At today's iPad mini event, Apple CEO Tim Cook has opened up the show with a few figures on adoption of Apple's newest devices and software offerings. Cook verified previous estimations of the iPhone 5's rapid sales, noting that the new smartphone sold five million units in its first weekend. He also gave a figure for iOS 6 adoption. In the month since its release, over 200 million devices have upgraded to the new version of iOS.

Cook also gave a few figures with regard to other Apple software offerings. Apple's iCloud feature has seen solid adoption, with now more than 125 million documents having been stored in the cloud.

The Apple-device messaging system, iMessage, has also seen solid adoption. According to Cook, over 300 billion messages have been sent on iMessage. That amounts to about 28,000 messages per second.

Cook gave more figures on other Apple services as well. There are now more than 160 million Game Center accounts. Customers have shared more than 70 million photos using iOS products. There are now more than 275,000 iPad apps, and customers have downloaded 35 billion apps in total. That last figure has led to a $6.5 billion payout from Apple to iOS app developers.
