7-inch tablet sports quad-core processor

Acer announced today an expansion in its Iconia Tab line of devices with the new A110, a 7-inch Android unit packing a quad-core processor. Weighing just 0.86 pounds and measuring less than half an inch thick, the Iconia Tab A110 has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor featuring a unique Super 4-PLUS-1 quad-core CPU design with a fifth Battery Saver Core. That fifth core is dedicated to handling less demanding activities, giving the A110 up to 7.5 hours of battery life.

The A110 also features a USB 2.0 port for hooking up other devices, a microSD slot for additional storage up to 32GB, a 2MP front-facing camera, a microHDMI output supporting dual displays, and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. It's also got 1GB of RAM and 8GB of built-in storage.

The A110 will be released running the most recent version of Google's Android operating system, version 4.1. It will be available in the United States and Canada starting on October 30 at leading retailers. It has a list price of $230 USD and CAD.
