Webcam has 50-foot range, Ustream compatible

Logitech has formally announced its new HD Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam aimed at bloggers and video professionals. Previously leaked under the name "Wireless Webcam for Mac", the camera can wirelessly transmit 720p video at a distance of up to 50 feet over Wi-Fi to an iOS device, a Mac, or a Ustream account.

Accompanied by a plastic carry case that can double as a stand, the Broadcaster will work with apps such as iMovie and Final Cut Pro, as well as QuickTime, Photo Booth, FaceTime, iChat, and Skype. The view from a device's built-in webcam and the Broadcaster can be switched between by pressing one button, though this is likely to be more application-specific than automatically configured.

The Logitech Broadcaster Wi-Fi Webcam is expected to go on sale this month for $200.
