LG Nexus benchmarked, sports 1.5GHz S4

Updated with Bloomberg supporting report An LG-manufactured Nexus smartphone has been rumored since February of this year, and now a steady trickle of details on the device has developed, resulting in new pictures of the LG Nexus emerging today, as well as benchmarks showing off the device's capabilities. The pictures were posted to an xda-developers forum, and they show the device in greater detail than has previously been seen in leaked images. The benchmarks were posted to the same forum, and show the pre-release hardware running behind devices such as HTC's One X.

The images show that the device is running at least Android 4.1. There has been some speculation that it would debut running version 4.2. That version, though, is rumored to be only an incremental upgrade over version 4.1, so it is possible that it would contain little in the way of cosmetic changes. One of the benchmarking images shows the heading for the device's Android version at the bottom of the screen, but the actual version number is not visible.

The images confirm much of the previous speculation about the LG Nexus phone. The xda poster confirms that it has a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, an 8MP rear camera, and a 4.7-inch display outputting at 1184x768 with 320ppi.

According to the xda poster, the device does not have LTE, but it does have DC-HSPA. The poster also ran the device through AnTuTu and Quadrant's benchmarking services. It scored 9270 in AnTuTu and 4207 in Quadrant.

Update: In an article this morning, Bloomberg cited sources familiar with the matter in confirming that LG is in fact developing a Nexus smartphone for Google.
