Google+ app update includes support for page maintenance

updated 07:45 am EDT, Thu October 11, 2012

iOS 6 support also included in Google+ changes

Google has released updates for both the Android [Free, Google Play] and iOS [Free, App Store] versions of its Google+ app. The change to version 2.3 adds support for Google+ pages, one of the social network's most highly-requested features that has been notably absent from its mobile apps for a considerable amount of time.

Page owners can now post to their pages from a mobile device, and can interact and reply to page followers like the browser-based desktop version. The Android version also includes an update to its widget and a modified "Find People" section, while the iOS version adds iPhone 5 and iOS 6 support, and the ability to edit posts.

Initial complaints for the update center around needing users to log out of their own account before logging back in as the Google+ page account, something that should work within the user's original account anyway. This could be a temporary workaround, with a more finessed system set for a future update. [ via Google+ staff page]
